Ian De Los Reyes was arraigned on Monday, Aug. 12 and charged with aggravated cruelty to animals and tampering with physical evidence, both suspects. Scarpino noted that De Los Reyes is a fugitive from North Carolina and Utah where charges are pending.
De Los Reyes was arrested on Saturday, July 13 by police investigators in Greenburgh along with Danilo Tolentino, when the charred remains of a dog were found in Tolentino’s backyard. Evidence of the dog’s killing was also found in Tolentino’s home after he reported the death of the dog to police.
It is alleged that De Los Reyes stabbed and killed a black Labrador retriever and then proceeded to burn the dog’s body in a fire pit sometime Friday night. The pet dog had belonged to the Tolentino’s daughter, who did not live there.
De Los Reyes remains remanded into the custody of the Westchester County Jail. No return court date has been announced.
